Our First Home

Well we did it!! We have made it through the home buying process and are now living in our first house! Last time I left off, we had made an offer, the sellers had accepted and we were waiting for our close date. We were able to close on April 1st-longest day at work ever while we waited for our 3:30 appointment! But we made it through, signed our names 300 times and left with our house key-what a great feeling! We couldn't wait to get there and walk in the front door. I had really wanted a picture with the sold sign in our front yard. Unfortunately, rather than put up a sold sign, the realtor listing the house simply took the "For Sale" sign from the yard. My mom and Aunt Beryl very stealthily borrowed one from up the street so we were able to get our picture! We brought an air mattress, our pillows, clothes for the next two days and other necessities to spend the night for the first time. We had a champagne picnic in the living room and made our first official home-buyers trip to Lowes The rest of the weekend was spent moving from our apartment to the house. We had a lot of great help and are SO thankful and blessed to have such great family and friends who are always willing to lend a hand. We don't know what we'd do without any of them! The moving went fairly quickly and before we knew it, we were all moved in, staring at a sea of boxes and not quite knowing what to do next. As of now, we have lived in the house for about 9 days and have all the boxes unpacked. We have a counter top ordered and lots and lots of plans. It's a good thing we have as much time as we want to get it all done! Right now we both agree on two favorite things: 1. Pulling in and out of the garage in the morning and at the end of the day 2. The quietness of having no one living above us or on either side of us The house is feeling more like home every day and we know it will hold many special memories for us in the years to come!
